Nani's Gelato — headless, and fast as a scoop melts

Nani's wanted the warmth of a neighbourhood gelateria with the speed of a modern app. I took the project the whole way — from the initial concept and design through to a live, production site. The answer was headless: editors keep the WordPress they know, while visitors get a Next.js + GraphQL front-end that loads instantly.

Concept to production

I owned every stage: shaping the concept and visual direction, designing the interface, building the headless front-end, and shipping it to production. The content team manages flavours, locations and seasonal features in WordPress. A GraphQL layer feeds a statically-optimized Next.js front-end, so every page is fast, accessible, and effortless to update — no plugin bloat, no slow admin.

Outcome

A site that feels handmade and performs like it isn't. Rich imagery, buttery transitions, and the kind of load times that keep hungry visitors from bouncing.
